Lots and Lots of Bones

No, not the ones in your body. Well . . . the show does involve lots of them, but I'm referring to the actual show Bones.

I've decided that since we don't have any assignments due tomorrow and it's my ONLY class on Tues. and Thurs., that I am going to stay up late and have my own little Bones marathon and skip class tomorrow. Lol.

I know, I know. I'm such a bad girl. But I'm tired and honestly? I'd really love to sleep in tomorrow. I don't hardly get to do it anymore, and this weekend I couldn't because I helped my step-sis at a pageant Saturday, which is usually when I get to sleep late. So that was squashed and I didn't get to eat anything but a small snack bag of Cheetos 'til like three o'clock . . . BUT it was all worth it. I love helping out at the pageants, and not just because I get paid either. I genuinely enjoy it. I would never compete in one, but I don't particularly hate watching them. Also, I get to spend some time with my cute nephew and niece which is a SUPER PLUS 'cause I love those little ones. :]

Anyway, back to my Bones. I love that show. ABSOLUTELY love it. Netflix has been amazing since I started college. I use it. A lot. Lol.

Well, time to settle in with a bag of something that isn't good for me, but I can't resist (I would name said thing, but I really haven't decided what I'm gonna munch on yet :P), and turn on episode 11! :D

Aced It!

First speech? CHECK!

Gah . . . Ok, truth time. Haha. I was SOOOOO nervous whenever I first got up to that podium, but after starting I did pretty good. I'm so glad I had friends in that class. If I didn't, I probably would've thrown up. Just kidding. Lol.

But seriously, I did so much better than I thought I would. I'm glad it's all over with now, though. Now I just have 'til the next speech to be calm. Which after the first one, the others shouldn't be that hard to do. I'm comfortable with it now, so I should be ok. :]

Anyways. IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!! I've only got two classes to go to today because my first got cancelled and my English teacher does these wonderful and amazing lab days on Friday where if we've went to the lab for at least 50 mins that week then we're excused from class. Guess who has SERIOUSLY taken advantage of those days? This girl.

I've got one more class to go to today and more than likely? I'm gonna be a bad student and bring my laptop so I can browse Pinterest the whole time. Lol. The guy is nice and all, but he rambles a lot. Which isn't really that bad because I love history, (it's World Civ II btw) but at the same time I'm so bored just sitting there taking notes and listening. So far that's the only lecture class I don't like. :P

Also, a couple of my friends are supposed to be visiting campus today which I'm really happy about. It'll be nice to see them for a few mins before World Civ. But after? I'm speeding down HWY 43 to get home to my love. Friday is pretty much the only day we get home alone at the house. So we take advantage of every one we get. (Don't be nasty.)

Well, that's about it I suppose. Here's a picture of me that I took earlier when I was super bored. Lol. Enjoy! :]

Nerves, Love, and Beef Stew

Three words that sum up my day. Haha.

Nerves because I have my very first public speaking speech tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous about it, but I'm sure I'll do all right. It's not like it'll be the first time I've gotten in front of a crowd to speak. Besides, it's much less nerve racking than senior project presentation was, and I got a 97 on that. :P

Love because I've been spending time with my dear. It's so nice to finally be in college with him. At first I thought it'd be bad spending so much extra time together, but it's actually improved our connection. I love the time I get to spend with him every day at school. And knowing he's just across campus if I need him is also a plus. The only thing I don't understand is the stupid rule here that he can't come into my dorm and I can't go into his. HELLO, ADMINISTRATION! Majority of the people here are 18 or older. I'm pretty sure they're like infringing on our rights or something . . .

Anywho, beef stew because . . .

Ta da! My totally awesome crock pot. <3

I decided I felt like cooking tonight, so yesterday Matt and I went to town and we concluded (after flipping through my recipe book and worrying about what little money we have as broke, unemployed college students) that we wanted beef stew. Lol.

So that's what's for supper. As I'm writing this there's only 30 mins. left for it to cook and my mouth is ABSOLUTELY watering for it. It smells so good . . .

Well, wish me luck for tomorrow everyone! And if you think about it, say a silent prayer for me around nine. Haha. :]

Here's Where The Art Comes In!

Finally! Ok, so I've been working on one big piece, and it still isn't finished, but I got a picture of what I have so far to share with y'all. :]

I know I should have been posting art way before now (especially since it was one thing asked for by my viewers in the poll I did), but I finally got around to taking pictures of some new stuff.

The first is the unfinished piece I was talking about. I'm VERY excited about it and I can't wait to finish because if it turns out as epic as I'm hoping it does, it's gonna look really great. <3 I won't say who it is because I wanna see if y'all can figure it out. Haha. Probably not because of American McGee's twisted touch, but let's just say it's a female Disney icon that falls into a world of nonsense. :]

The second is a giraffe I drew last week. I'm planning to add color, so I'll post another pic when that's done.

Anyway. Enjoy!

Ups and Downs

It seems that life sometimes hits those little ruts where things are really great and then things really start to go badly . . .

Although things aren't that way for me right now, they have been this week for my poor boyfriend. :[

I feel so awful, too! I want to help him, but the things that have happened to him this week are things I can't do anything about. All I can do is just be there for him. And I am, it just bothers me that that is all I can do . . . I WANT TO HELP! But all of his problems have required money. And money I do not have right now.

P.S. Anyone who knows businesses that are hiring, it would be EXTREMELY helpful if you'd let me know about them ASAP.

Things haven't been quite so peachy for me either over the past week or two, but at least it's things that I can live with and am halfway used to. I don't think I mentioned this last week, but my dad and I got into a HUGE fight . . . again. It basically ended the same way just about every argument he and I have had since last August. He threatened me with money, and then disowned me. Sigh. That's the third time in a year and a half. Joy, joy. It's sad that it's one of the things I've gotten used to. He also asked me not to blog about him because he said I only made him "look bad" and that I shouldn't "bite the hand that was feeding me." Well it isn't my fault that he's such a crappy person that the things he does and says to me are always awful. Well, ok, not ALWAYS. But majority of the time, yes.

I'm almost out of money. Which S-U-C-K-S! I held onto my last paycheck for as long as I could, but it's finally dwindling. I have $40 put back for gas money and then about $50 for extra cash. That's not much at all. Especially when I'm cooking every Tuesday and Thursday at school. Family Dollar is cheap and great, but those discounts can only last me so long. :P

Blah. Tomorrow I've only got one morning class, which is GLORIOUS! Friday I'm leaving school after my nine o'clock class. I have no English because of an amazing learning lab deal my teacher has with us, and I'm being a bad kid and skipping my World Civ class because honestly, I WANT TO GO HOME! Lol.

Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to the weekend because it will consist of lots of Matt and Karen time and lots of lazy time. And that sounds really freaking great to me.

Surviving

Yep. That's what I'm doing.

I'm going into my second week of college. The first FULL week, though. I'm actually kind of eager to get to work. I know things will be very different, but I'm kind of looking forward to that. I know, I know . . . "What nerd looks forward to school work?" Yeah, well. I'm productive. I like to do stuff. :P

Anywho, today was a pretty good day for me (besides the absolute gully washer that came earlier). Church was really great. God had a message prepared for me and I heard it loud and clear. I've been under A LOT of stress lately and - as usual - worrying about things I shouldn't have to, and it's been getting to me very badly. However, today God told me through my pastor (and future father-in-law) that everything was gonna be ok, and I just had to put it in His hands and trust that He would take care of it. So that's what I'm gonna do. My God is big and I know he can stomp out the little problems I've been having. :]

So I really want to do another prompt, but I think I'm gonna wait until either tomorrow or Tuesday to do that.

Also, I don't think I mentioned it before, but my schedule is super awesome and on Tuesday and Thursday I've only got one class in the morning, which allows me the rest of the day off. I love to cook and my lovely mother got me a crock pot. I'm gonna go crazy with it. Haha. I've decided to cook every Tuesday and Thursday and when I do, I'm gonna try to blog about it and post a picture. Just as a little extra thing. I'll also post the recipe with it, too, just to share.

Well, I suppose that's all for tonight. Thanks everyone for your continued support. I love you all. <3

Prompt Three

Prompt: Name one thing in your life you hope you never have to see or encounter.

This one is pretty easy to answer, but the answer is quite gruesome.

I've seen and been through a number of things in my life, as you all know from reading my blog. Or if you just know me then you probably know my story of struggles. However, there is one thing I hope and pray that I never have to see or go through.

I hope I never have to witness a dead child or a dying child. This kind of strikes home because of the recent Connecticut shooting. Even though it was states away, it was here in the US. All of the lives that were taken that day were precious and will be remembered forever. I can't even imagine what the parents and families of the victims are still going through . . .

After it happened, it really hurt my heart, and I read on it a lot. I encountered one story of a little girl who chose to "play dead" when the shooter came into her class and opened fire. It was in the report that after the incident she was reunited with her mom and said, "Mama I'm okay, but all my friends are dead."

Isn't that just heart shattering? I broke down in tears when reading this story. It's horrific . . .

A child has so much ahead of them in life. They may think getting to be 16 or 18 is forever away (I know I did), but they don't truly realize just how much is ahead of them until they reach my age or older. However, we as young adults or adults know that life is just beginning. I believe it would be a traumatic event to witness  a lifeless young one. So I never EVER want to encounter that in life.

Life is Grand

That's right! I'm so happy today.

So far I am loving college. This is definitely what I had been craving while I was stuck in high school for so long. I feel like this is where I'm supposed to be in my life right now and that's a really great feeling to be where I feel that I belong. :]

I'm typing this before I leave for my only class on Tuesday/Thursday, so it may not be long since I have to leave soon, but I just wanted to post this very positive entry. All of this good energy definitely reflects my mood. I am loving how happy I am right now.

It's rare for me to just be in such a chipper mood as I am right now, but I am. And it feels really great. Hopefully God will see to it that I stay in this kind of mood all day. Haha.

I plan on blogging with a prompt later in the day, so keep your eyes open and peeled for that!

I'm In College!!

Whoo! Even though I felt like a chicken with my head cut off running around campus this morning, I'm finally settled into my dorm room (and I have an awesome roommate might I add). I went through so much to get here, and I'm glad the day has come.

Of course one of the biggest perks is having my darling here with me. :]

Tomorrow is the first day of classes, but it always consists of going over the syllabus on the first day. So obviously that's gonna be kinda lame but also kinda great 'cause class won't last but a few minutes. Haha.

I'm taking five classes (16 hours) this semester. Three are basic classes and the other two are part of my childhood education program. That schedule isn't too bad for a first semester, so it should work out just fine. Tuesdays and Thursdays I will thoroughly enjoy because I've only got one class at eight and then I've got the rest of the day off to do whatever I please.

I'm hoping that I can find a part-time job down here somewhere. If anybody knows places I can apply, please let me know!! (P.S. It's in Poplarville for any who didn't know.) Also, because I'm smart (ok, and because Matt recommended it) I'm going to use my syllabuses to my advantage and get ahead on my work so that I won't be one of those people who wait until the last minute to do their assignments and then nearly fall asleep in class the next day. :P

Blah. Well I suppose that's all for now. More than likely I'll blog again tomorrow and I'd like to get back into those prompts, so those will be back soon, too!

Prompt Two

So here's the next prompt from the online list.

Prompt Two: What is the most valuable item or largest sum of money you have ever found?

When reading this prompt there was one thing that immediately came to my mind.

One day I was at the gas station waiting for my gas to finish pumping and I looked down and saw a little wooden turtle. I leaned down to pick it up and thought of my boyfriend, Matt. He really likes wooden trinkets and he also likes turtles. It was pretty plain how I found it and I wanted to put a little piece of me into it so it'd be unique.

I took it home and painted it in shades of brown and gray. I was satisfied with how it turned out and when he came home from school that weekend, I gave it to him as a present. He really liked it and to this day he carries it with him in his pocket everywhere he goes.

It was so sentimental and it's almost like it was perfect timing that I looked down before finishing pumping my gas that day. It always makes me so happy to see him carrying it around, too. Finding that one little turtle meant so much to both of us and it'll always be a sweet memory we share. :]
